Vintage Boudoir Art Print

During British makeup artist Lisa Eldrige’s 12-day “Vintage Makeup Week”, Lisa shows us a few vintage makeup products from her collection. It’s absolutely incredible to watch!

Lisa says:

“As I say in this video I didn’t want to make it a formulaic “this is how to do a Marilyn look… this is how to do a 40′s lip” (I’ll do that kind of thing at a later date) but more of a fun look at vintage products, make-up history and some of my personal collection favourites. There’s going to be a mixture of films and blog posts including a couple of really fascinating documentaries and two make-overs the likes of which I haven’t seen attempted before ; )

If you truly love make-up I think you are going to love what I’ve got coming up so stay tuned!”

The Story of Bésame Cosmetics

Gabriela Hernandez, founder of Bésame Cosmetics Inc., has brought artistry and romance back to the cosmetics industry. She has created a line infused with a romantic sensibility that is rich in historical details. Her inspiration for it all was sparked by a combination of her background in art and design, a love for feminine detail, and fond memories of her glamorous grandmother.

Return to the glamour days of the 1930′s, 1940′s and 1950′s. But it’s not just packaging, the lipsticks, mascaras and rouges are simply luxurious to apply.

Treat yourself or the vintage vixen in your life!

One of my favorite youtube makeup gurus, Kandee Johnson, who is actually a print and tv makeup artist working in Los Angeles, shows us how to do “fall makeup” or actually a pin-up makeup look on her mother (do they look like twins or what!?) It’s not actually a classic pin-up look, but more modern, as in she mixes pink and red for the lip instead of just a classic red on the lip. Her mom has an olive skin tone so this is a great pin-up makeup tutorial for mature women with olive skin!

These are the products Kandee the makeup artist used for this pin-up makeup look for mature women:

LIQUID FOUNDATION
Make-Up Forever HD Foundation in #170 Caramel (used to contour and add warmth)
CREAM FOUNDATION
COVER FX CREAM FOUNDATION in M70 (used as a concealer)

FACE POWDER:
CHEEK COLOR:
Cream Blush in Posey from MAC Cosmetics
POWDER BLUSH
Angel from MAC Cosmetics , a light matte pink
Peaches ‘n Pink from MAC Cosmetics
Mocha from MAC
EYES:
Soft Ochre Paint Pot from MAC Cosmetics
SHADOWS:
Brulee eyeshadow from MAC Cosmetics
Cork & Charcoal Brown eyeshadows from MAC Cosmetics
EYELINER:
I used Black Black (it’s a pro color from MAC Cosmetics or you can use any cream/gel black liner) and an angled brush. I also really like Aqua Black from Makeup Forever that is totally water-proof!
Carbon from MAC Cosmetics
LASHES:
EYEBROWS:
Charcoal Brown eye shadow (or you could use Coquette) from MAC (Kandee says: “the darker the eyebrows, the younger you look!)
LIPS:
Hot Pink lipliner from Make-Up Forever in 16C Fuschia
Cherry Red lipliner from MAC Cosmetics

Femme Fatale: Famous Beauties Then and Now

by Serge Normant

Chic, sexy, and sophisticated, Femme Fatale pays tribute to a century of feminine glamour.

Invoking not only iconic beauties like Jean Harlow, Brigitte Bardot, and Marilyn Monroe but also the looks that defined each decade from the 1900s to the new millennium, celebrity stylist Serge Normant crafts clothes, setting, hair, and makeup to transform today’s most beautiful women.

He re-creates Julia Roberts as Louise Brooks, and Cindy Crawford as a forties glamour goddess, a savvy paparazzi-stalked nineties superstar, and a twenties ingenue.

Elizabeth Hurley frolics as a flower child and vamps as Mata Hari. Isabella Rossellini is a curvaceous fifties pinup and an eighties punk.

200 color photos.

Excellent gift for you or the vintage make-up lover in your life!

These ladies are my favorite makeup gurus. They’re sisters and both are professional make up artists.

However, not everyone has their hair color or skin tone, so here are some other classic pin up style makeup videos that feature women with different skin tones and hair color and even one for asian eyes!
