Liz Taylor started acting at young age, and her career blossomed from her first role as a child in There’s One Born Every Minute. Aside from her extensive film career including National Velvet, Father of the Bride, and Cleopatra, Taylor also appeared in the media and the spotlight for her personal endeavors as well. Going through a whopping eight marriages, her romantic life was almost just as vast as her professional career! All scandal, romance, and films aside, what we want to focus on is the beauty and fashion that Liz Taylor was able to embrace constantly in a life where she had to learn to expect the unexpected.
Taylor was almost more famous for her amazing eyes than anything else, in fact that’s the reason an agent even noticed her in the first place. She was actually born with what was considered a genetic mutation, however this mutation hardly handicapped her beauty. Instead it meant she was born with two rows of eyelashes instead of one. While we all can’t exactly force ourselves to grow an extra row of long lashes, it’s a reminder that paying attention to how you apply your makeup can give you an ultra romantic vibe. To get Liz-like lashes, layer on the mascara and take note of the dark colors that our models use as well.

Although Taylor stayed up to date with the changing fashions as she got older, in the vintage era of the 30′s and 40′s, she was a force to be reckoned with. Her fashion was classically vintage, here you can see that the body shape of her dress outlined a perfectly feminine shape. Marks and Spencer Vintage Lingerie Jubilee Collection
M&S lingerie has a rich heritage, launching their very first bra in 1926! And to celebrate the 2012 Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in the UK, they’ve dug into the unique M&S Archives to take inspiration from the lingerie styles which were popular in the Marks and Spencer ranges 60 years ago.
In the early 1950s, bras came in three sizes; small, medium and large. Today M&S sell over 40 sizes in many of their bra ranges, with cup sizes ranging from an AA cup through to a K cup! (If you’re a big busted lady, I highly recommend buying bras from Marks & Spencer – they really know how to make a supportive bra!)
Iconic 1950s lingerie styles included sweater girl conical bras, flirty french knickers, slinky teddies, shaping corselettes and suspender girdles. These 1950s, vintage styles inspired M&S talented designers to create these unique, sassy, archive-inspired, Limited Collection lingerie, sleepwear and sexy shaping underpinnings.
My absolute favorite, must-have from this collection is the Limited Collection Vintage Satin Bra (shown above).

After reading through buyer reviews and conducting my own review on M&S longline bras, it seems that the cups tend to run on the larger side! Also, when the description says “added stretch”, which M&S writes on a lot of their bras meant for comfort, it actually means (to me) to order a size down in the band! This fabric will stretch quite a bit. Take that into consideration.

My notes:
At first glance, I figured the model was wearing a white bra underneath this one because it was see-through lace. Now that I’ve had a closer look, it looks like this bra is padded (as it says up there in the product details). It’s probably to keep the lace from chafing, I just wonder why they didn’t make the padding black instead of nude/white?
If you’ve seen X-Men: First Class, you’d know there’s a groovy lingerie scene in the Hell Fire Club featuring January Jones as Emma Frost . The movie takes place in the early 60s and you’ll see nylon 60s babydolls, lingerie with fringe, garter belt sets, and not a thong in sight! Our beloved Betty Draper as Emma Frost wears a sparkly white Wonderbra-looking plunge bra, skirt and fur trimmed peignoir. I spent a while searching online for this part of the movie but since nobody uploaded the clip to youtube, I figured I’d be the first to do it! The scene also features pieces from vintage inspired lingerie brand What Katie Did‘s Lulu collection. Can you spot it?
